Progress in Timothy Geithner’s nomination

Timothy Geithner, nominee for Secretary of the Treasurery, has progessed to the next step of the process. The Finance Committee voted 18 to 5 to approve Geithner, thus sending is name to the Senate for a full floor vote. As I said, I expect this nomination to receive the most partisan vote (in the same way the stimulus packages get partisan votes – and for the same reasons). On the Committee numbers, a 77/22 split could be the best to hope for (99 being ethe total number of the Senate after Friday when Governor of New York David Patterson announces Former-senator Hillary Clinton’s (who resigned from the Senate immeiately after her nomination was confurmed) replacement – I predict either Andrew Cuomo, current New York Attorney General, or Congresswoman Kirsten Gillibrand).
