Ponting retires from Twenty20 cricket

Now if only the rest of the cricketing world would do the same. Not a silly move in the slightest – keeping the rest of your cricketing career (see: test) going some time longer. I suspect it has something to do with the Ashes loss (transitioning Clark in as the leader, not burning Ponting out, bringing in new players that have international experience of more than 10 minutes).

Don’t worry, you’ll be able to see Ponting play Twenty20 again. When he retires, no doubt, he will make the exodus to India to play in that farcical tournament.

What’s sad is that, even with that stupid leauge thing going on in India, there’s another World T20 tournament in freaking May next year. I guess I’ll find something else to watch until the final comes around (I still think there would be money saved and benefits to having a few rounds of paper-scissors-rock to determine the finalists). Maybe there’s a netball tournmanet on or something …..
