Next time you have a spare half hour or so, anyone with an interest in US politics, climate change and legislation, and an extremely frustrating tale must read this article in the New Yorker.
It has everything in it that makes me obsessed with US politics. But at the same time it feels like the reader (as well as the Senators the article is about) is banging their head against a brick wall.
Suffice to say, it is an article about how close the US came to changing the world debate about climate change and actually, you know, doing something about it. I have much more respect for the three Senators in the article and a lot less respect for President Obama, his administration, and Harry Reid (though I had very little to begin with, so it makes no difference).
